Is a propane fueled fuel cell capable of replacing grid power for home use commercially available?

Posted by admin on May 2, 2009

I want to disconnect from “the grid” and generate my own power on a continuous basis using propane for fuel. Most commercially available fuel cells for electrical generation are for back-up power only and require pure hydrogen to operate. I don’t know why the industry isn’t interested in the home market, but there seems to be no effort spent on this. If you know of any company that is working on this or currently has such a fuel cell, please provide details. Thanks.

Can the fuel pump on a 2001 Alero cause the fuel gauge to malfuction?

Posted by admin on April 30, 2009

My wife had a quarter tank of fuel according to the gauge, when the car ran out of gas. The mechanic said the fuel pump needs replaced since that is where the sensor is. This si a $700 repair, and he advised that the car will still run without replacing th efuel pump. The gauge just isn’t trustworthy. My thoughts are 1) If fuel pump is failing, car won’t run for long. 2) Does he know what he is talking about or is he trying to sell me a pump I don’t need? 3) Will an error code scan, tell us anything more about the fuel delivery system?

Can changing a fuel filter cause the fuel pump to break?

Posted by admin on

I know it sounds stupid to me too, but I heard somewhere that if your fuel filter is changed it can break the pump because the pump is used to working with a clogged fuel filter. Is this true? I just don’t want to be worried that I could be messing up the fuel pump.
